The venue of ISNI2008 is the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Vigo. This Faculty is located at the Lagoas-Marcosende University Campus, 13 kms uphill from downtown Vigo, close to Peinador Airport. Plenary sessions will take place at the Auditorium of the Faculty, a conference room with modern audiovisual equipments and about 500 seats.

The main blocks of the Faculty of Economics were constructed in the last two decades, in two steps: first between 1988 and 1991, and then a new library and the Auditorium were added between 1992 and 1995. Designed by the architect Alfonso Penela, the building project was awarded in several ocasions. Some other complements to the original structure were built in 2002, as a new area for Department offices and a raised footbridged connecting the Faculty and the Central University Library. The result is a very attractive ring-shaped building, its central area being a green yard with an artificial enjoyable lake. It is not strange to find some ‘intelectual’ horses as well as sheeps at that point!

There are some buildings with University and private services in the surroundings of the Faculty. The new University Deanship, the Sports Building, the Comercial Area, and the amazing Edificio Miralles (all of them less than 10 years old) are a modern counterpoint to older buldings at the Campus. The School of Industrial Engineering (1984) and the Faculty of Filology (1976) were constructed in the times when this Campus belonged to the neighbouring University of Santiago de Compostela.

The University of Vigo, created as an independent institution in 1990, is a young and innovative organization which offers more than 50 degrees in three different campuses, located at three different villages: Vigo, Ourense and Pontevedra. More than 20000 students are registered in the three campuses, and about 1600 teachers are presently lecturing. This institution offers degrees in all areas of knowledge, especially in the scientific-technological field. Some of the degrees are unique within the Galician university system and not very common in the rest of the Spanish universities: Fine Arts in the Campus of Pontevedra, Higher Technical Telecommunication Engineering and Mining Engineering in the campus of Vigo, or Tourism in the campus of Ourense.
